A high mileage oil change is for cars, trucks and SUVs that have passed about 75,000 miles. By then the seals and gaskets have been through years of heat, and many engines start to seep or burn a little oil. If your odometer is past 75,000, or your car leaves oil spots or needs a top-off between changes, high mileage oil is worth asking about.

High mileage oil is not only for old cars. A newer vehicle that is driven hard — rideshare, delivery, work trucks, long commutes — can pass 75,000 miles quickly, and the same advice applies.
High mileage oils are made for older engines. They contain seal conditioners that help keep aging seals flexible, which can mean fewer leaks, and additives designed to reduce oil burn-off, so the oil level stays up longer between changes. They also carry extra anti-wear protection for engine parts that have seen years of use.
It does not replace a repair: if you notice a steady leak, pull in and we’ll take a look. But for the small seeps and slow oil loss that come with age, the right oil and regular oil changes are the simplest place to start — old oil that is dirty or worn out protects an aging engine less.
